Our Story

Founded in 2023, Te Ara Maranga began as a focused initiative to support vulnerable rangatahi in the Tāmaki community of Glen Innes, Panmure, and Point England. We recognised the unique challenges faced by our youth, including those who may have a history of crime or have been caught up in gangs, and saw the untapped potential within our community.

From these beginnings, we've grown to establish a range of platforms and programmes that have enabled countless young people to find their path, regardless of their past. Our journey is one of transformation – not just for the rangatahi we serve, but for our entire community.

We are a Project Rise Initiative

Project Rise: Empowering Tāmaki Through Community-Led Innovation

Project Rise a groundbreaking initiative developed by Tāmaki Connect Trust in partnership with Tāmaki College, is revolutionising community development in our rohe. Project Rise is not just connecting the college with the local community – it is creating a powerful engine for positive change in Tāmaki.

Our Project Rise kaupapa:

  1. Co-design: We work hand-in-hand with the community to create projects that address real, on-the-ground needs.

  2. Community Governance: Our unique model ensures that every initiative is truly for and by the people of Tāmaki.

  3. Holistic Development: Through education, community projects, and social enterprises, we're driving comprehensive social and economic growth.

Project RISE is more than a programme – it's a movement that is empowering the Tamaki community to take charge of its future.

Te Ara Maranga stands as a beacon of hope and opportunity, bridging the gap between potential and achievement for the youth of Tāmaki, especially those who might otherwise be overlooked.

"Despite my past, Te Ara Maranga believed in me. I gained skills and confidence. Now I'm building a future I'm proud of."
